As another year draws to a close, we at the library join the rest of the world in taking stock of what we accomplished in 2018. This year, we saw even more improvements and updates to our various study spaces. We began building a textbook collection to help our students cut down on course-related costs, and we completed a big weeding project of outdated technology to make room for all of those new textbooks. We saw more students using the Tutoring and Learning Center in its second year of operation, and we opened our doors to the Office of International Studies and the Cultural Center. We got a new logo!
Outside the library, our various staff implemented the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) in Communication, served on Staff Council and Faculty Assembly, and also served on University Committees like the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Sustainability Council. We said goodbye to two of our longtime technical services whizzes, graduated some of our fabulous senior student workers, and started the process of welcoming more new faces into our building. Finally, we celebrated big time by hosting the First Lady’s Christmas Party, an Alpine community event that reminded us just how much we love sharing our space.
All of these things help contribute to our vision of being a strategic institutional asset in the creative exploration, intellectual growth, and scholarly pursuits of the students, faculty, and staff at Sul Ross.
