The entire Library (including the Archives) is closed during University holidays. The Archives is also closed from time to time due to staffing constraints. Researchers, particularly those travelling are encouraged to call or write ahead and schedule an appointment.
Sul Ross State University students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public are welcome to conduct research in the Archives. All materials are non-circulating and must be used in the Reading Room.
Researchers are asked to read and sign a policy of rules and regulations upon registering which includes: use of pencils only; check in of all containers including book bags, briefcases, purses, and other personal property not necessary for research; careful handling of materials; compliance with copyright, privacy, or other applicable laws or conditions of use.
We are happy to communicate with potential researchers as to the relevancy of the Archives’ holdings to their topic of interest. We offer orientation to first time users of primary materials and special collections.
